Accio – (a.k.a., summoning charm) This spell brings an object to the person who cast the spell

Alohomora – Charm that will open a locked door

Avada Kedavra – (a.k.a., the killing curse) This spell kills people instantly and is marked with a flash of green light, this is one of the “unforgivable curses”

Binding Charm – Creates invisible ropes which bind a person to prevent them from moving

Bubble-head Charm – Surrounds the person who cast the spell with a large bubble of air to help them breath

Cheering Charm – Used to make someone happy

Colloportus – Used to seal a door

Confundus Charm – Causes confusion to those it is cast upon

Conjunctivitis Curse – Causes harm and blindness to those it is cast upon

Conjuring Spells – Creates objects out of thin air (not to be confused with 'accio'/the summoning charm)

Cruciatus Curse – One of the “unforgivable curses,” this spell causes intolerable pain to those on which it is cast

Diffindo – (a.k.a., severing charm) This charm cuts away portions of something

Disillusionment Charm – This charm hides the properties of an object or person

Engorgio – (a.k.a., engorgement charm) This charm enlarges an item or person

Ennervate – Revives a person hit by a stunning spell

Evanesco – Makes an object vanish permanently

Expecto Patronum – (a.k.a. Patronus Charm) Used to conjure a Patronus, a protective force that will stave off Dementors

Expelliarmus – (a.k.a., disarming spell) Makes an object/weapon fly out of your opponent’s hands

Fidelus Charm – Complicated spell that hides a person or persons completely. The only person able to reveal the whereabouts is known as a “secret keeper”

Finite Incantatem – Ends the effects of a spell

Furnunculus – Causes boils to erupt over a person’s body

Hover Charm – Makes an object float in mid-air

Impedimenta – Stops or slows an object down

Imperius Curse – One of the “unforgivable curses,” this curse causes someone to be under the complete control of the person who casts the spell

Imperturbable Charm – Creates an invisible barrier to a room to prevent eavesdropping

Impervious – Makes something waterproof

Incendio – Starts a fire

Locomotor Mortis – Binds a person legs together so they can not walk

Lumos – Causes a soft beam of light to emit from the person’s wand

Mobilicorpus – Moves a body

Morsmorde – Conjures the dark mark

Nox – Ends the Lumos spell and turns out the light emanating from the wand.

Obliteration Charm – Removed traces/tracks a person has left behind

Obliviate – Removes a person’s memory

Oculus Reparo – Repairs eyeglasses

Petrificus Totalus – Binds a persons entire body so that they can not move

Portus – Turns an object into a portkey

Prior Incantato – Spell which forces a wand to emit a ghost image of the last spell that was cast.  When it happens spontaneously when two wands with the same core are forced to duel, it is called “prior incantatem.”

Protean Charm – Makes something such as galleons change their form to mimick that of a “parent” object

Protego – (a.k.a., shield charm) This charm protects the user from spells cast at them

Reducio – Opposite of engorgio, this spell returns the target to normal size

Reducto – Moves objects out of the path of the person who casts the spell

Reparo – Repairs an object

Rictusempra – Causes a fit of uncontrollable laughter to the target

Riddikulus – Causes a boggart to take on a silly appearance

Scourgify – Cleans things

Serpensortia – Causes a snake to erupt from the end of a wand

Silencio – Silences a person or object

Stupefy – Renders a person unconscious

Unbreakable Charm – Makes something unbreakable

Wingardium Leviosa – Causes an object to levitate
